Downtown Hermosa Beach, CA · Salons
Every few months we take a look at how local businesses in a neighborhood show up online. Not a ranking — just an honest snapshot of the practical stuff: does the site load quickly, is it easy to use on a phone, is there a clear way to get in touch?
Businesses appear in no particular order. We’re checking function, not design — a beautiful site and a plain one can score identically here. A few checks are automated, so if we got something wrong, reach out and we’ll correct it.

Clean, minimal design with a nice interior photo. The phone number doubles as the only booking CTA — no online booking, just call-to-book. The 2019 copyright suggests the site hasn't been touched in a while.
1601 CA-1 #280, Hermosa Beach, CA 90254
Salon Republic is a studio rental marketplace — the Hermosa Beach page helps clients find individual beauty pros to book, not a single salon. Well-built site, but represents the platform rather than one business.

Beautifully designed bohemian-style site with strong photography. Location and specialty are clear right away — 'Hair Salon in Beautiful Hermosa Beach, CA, since 2013' — and 'Find Your Stylist' is a great CTA for a multi-stylist salon.
Striking hero image and a prominent 'Make a Reservation' button, but 'You Are Royal. Invest In Your Crown.' doesn't tell a new visitor it's a hair salon — the brand name alone isn't obvious enough.
Stylish editorial photography and a clean design, but 'Change Your Hair, Change Your Life' as a lone hero tagline doesn't identify the business above the fold. The Appointment button is easy to spot in the nav.
One of the strongest sites in this group — clear branding, a specific service description ('Expert color, cuts, and styling'), and prominent booking CTAs all above the fold. Great use of the Hermosa Beach location identity.
Simple but effective Canva site — the service description is explicit (haircuts, highlights, balayage, color) and the booking button is the main CTA. No address or hours listed, and it's on a free Canva subdomain rather than a custom domain.
Elegant, well-designed site with clear luxury positioning and a prominent booking CTA above the fold. Missing social links and no address or hours visible.
'Welcome / Glad you're here!' is too generic as a hero — a first-time visitor sees no indication of what services are offered until they scroll. The Book Now button is easy to find, but the page needs a headline.
Breezy beach aesthetic that fits the location well. 'Let us help you love your hair' is clear enough, and Book Appointment is prominent in the nav — a hero-level CTA button would make it even stronger.
The oldest-looking site in this group — an early-2000s design with no visible booking option or call to action. 'Since 1985' is a compelling credential that deserves a much better showcase.
A hybrid salon-and-retail Shopify site — 'Free Shipping Over $50' and a Products section in the nav make it read as a store first, with the salon appointment booking less prominent. Strong personality, but the homepage needs a clearer primary message.
An old-style splash/entry page — the full-service description is present (cuts, color, balayage, keratin, makeup) and there's a booking link, but 'Enter Site Here' as the main CTA and a dense text block create a dated first impression.
Clean, elegant site with 'Hair Extension Salon' right in the logo — the specialty is immediately clear. Beautiful studio photography and an easy-to-find booking link make this one of the better sites in the group.
'Truly Custom Hair Extensions' is a strong headline that instantly communicates the specialty. Phone number and Book Now are both prominent above the fold. The ethical sourcing copy adds credibility for this niche service.
A warm, personal site with a real photo of the storefront and a clear location description. 'View our services here' is a soft CTA — there's no online booking, and a direct 'Book Now' button would convert better.
Team-first homepage that builds personal trust, but there's no hero image, tagline, or service description — visitors land directly on the Salon Team section before they know what the salon is about.
A beautiful salon interior photo, but no headline or description above the fold — just a very dense navigation bar with social links. The salon's personality and services are invisible until you scroll.
One of the most complete sites in the group — hours and full address are right in the header bar, organic AVEDA positioning, and Book Now in the nav. The hero currently spotlights hair extensions specifically, which may undersell the full service menu.
